Vortex will make their first European tour this autumn alongside Xaon on the Symphony For The Dead: The Last Symphony Europe Tour. The announced 2026 run begins November 26 in Frankfurt and concludes December 6 in Barberaz, with stops across Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and France.
The pairing follows the bands’ Eastern Canada dates in 2025. For Rimouski, Quebec’s Vortex, it is a first opportunity to take their orchestral blackened death metal to Europe. Xaon, meanwhile, are presenting the itinerary as their final European tour, marking the end of a decade-long career.
Vortex’s latest EP, Alien Realms, was released April 11, 2025. Its four tracks explore cosmic horror and humanity’s search for intelligent life, extending the orchestral and black-metal elements of the band’s previous album, The Future Remains in Oblivion. The band describes the EP as a refinement of that sound, combining large orchestral arrangements, melodies and aggressive riffs.
The EP’s sequence comprises “When Humans Defy the Void”, “Haunting the Abyss”, “Ripping The Threads Of Reality” and “Where Wonders Dwell”. Chris Kells of The Agonist directed the video for “Haunting the Abyss”, which accompanies the tour announcement.
Xaon’s history in the supplied release includes debut album The Drift, the 2019 follow-up Solipsis and The Lethean, released July 1, 2022. Their touring has taken them through Europe, Japan and the United States, followed by Wacken Open Air in 2023 and their first Canadian tour in 2025.
