THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA have released “In My Dreams…” and its accompanying video through Prosthetic Records. The Maryland deathcore five-piece’s new single takes up questions of belief and conformity, with vocalist Andy Reynolds connecting its lyrical concerns to the band’s efforts to establish its own musical identity.
In the announcement supplied by Earsplit PR, Reynolds describes the track as a realization of an approach the group has pursued from the outset: “This song feels like what the band has been trying to do since the beginning. It feels like a THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA song, not a Myspace deathcore revival song. This era of the band has its own identity rather than being put in a box.”
That resistance to categorization also informs the words. Reynolds continues: “Lyrically, it’s also about being put in a box, in a way. It’s important to know when you’re choosing to believe something versus blindly following it because you’re told it’s the right thing to do. Question everything…even God.”
The press announcement places the group’s broader work within a philosophy of regeneration and renewal, describing music that confronts past regrets, insecurities and trauma. Its account of their sound brings together deathcore, death metal and melody. Reynolds’ comments give the new single a more specific focus: examining the difference between a consciously chosen conviction and one accepted on instruction.
THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA emerged in 2022 with a Gothenburg melodic death metal influence in their deathcore. Their previous albums are Act Like You Don’t Know (2023) and I’m Done With Self Care, It’s Time For Others’ Harm (2025), with earlier songs including “I Can’t Save You” and “Gage Lanza 2: Return Of The Red Hammer.” The new single follows those releases as Reynolds argues for an identity beyond the revival framing associated with the group’s beginnings.
The five-piece consists of Reynolds on vocals, Evan McArthur and Scott Chan on guitars, Bradon Albaugh on bass, and Joey Bowers on drums. Alongside the single announcement, the band outlined November and December 2026 US touring, including dates with Girls Of Glass and xMercyx and a subsequent headlining run featuring Destroy All! Humans and The Crimson Armada on select dates.
