SEVEN KINGDOMS will release their new studio album, Sono Sola, on January 29, 2027, through Reigning Phoenix Music. The Florida power metal quartet frames its ten tracks as a ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ saga, following the collapse of familiar beliefs and the difficult work of rebuilding a sense of identity.
According to the announcement, vocalist Sabrina Cruz draws on personal struggles, relationships and social contradictions to explore broken trust and the loss of certainty. The album’s central concern extends beyond disillusionment to the challenge of confronting uncomfortable truths and moving forward without clear answers.
The record was produced by Jim Morris, SEVEN KINGDOMS and Francesco Cavalieri. Its musical approach combines driving rhythms, intricate guitars, heavy grooves and soaring vocal melodies. A successful crowdfunding campaign and the band’s renewed partnership with Reigning Phoenix Music provided additional resources for the recording. The announcement attributes to guitarist Camden Cruz the view that this was the first album on which the group could fully invest in every aspect of its creation.
Opening track ‘Twin Flames’ draws from the Game of Thrones universe, particularly House of the Dragon, examining family betrayal, secrecy and conflict over a woman’s right to rule. ‘Dissonance’ addresses emotional numbness after repeated disappointment, while ‘Undone’ turns toward self-examination and the changes required for personal growth.
Other songs approach that larger theme from different directions. ‘Endless Night’ concerns persistence in pursuing a dream despite sacrifice and setbacks. ‘Through These Waves’ addresses mental health, addiction and seeking help, while ‘I Don’t Care…’ examines online outrage and public judgment. ‘The Oracle’ considers the search for wisdom and the willingness to question convictions; ‘Five Tones’ explores the boundary between accepted reality and the unexplained.
The closing title track brings the album’s concerns into a reflection on solitude, resilience and the limits of understanding. Partly inspired by a moment of stillness in the Nevada desert, ‘Sono Sola’ connects nostalgia and regret with the personal growth that accompanies change.
The running order is ‘Twin Flames’ (04:26), ‘Dissonance’ (04:23), ‘The Serpent And The Lotus’ (04:04), ‘Endless Night’ (03:52), ‘Undone’ (04:46), ‘Through These Waves’ (03:31), ‘I Don’t Care…’ (04:33), ‘The Oracle’ (04:51), ‘Five Tones’ (04:40) and ‘Sono Sola’ (04:37).
Formed in DeLand, Florida, in 2007, SEVEN KINGDOMS consists of vocalist Sabrina Cruz, guitarists Camden Cruz and Kevin Byrd, and drummer Keith Byrd. After solidifying their lineup in 2009 and signing with Nightmare Records, the band joined Blind Guardian’s 2010 North American tour at that group’s invitation.
Their subsequent releases include 2012’s The Fire Is Mine and 2022’s Zenith, the latter issued through Distortion Music Group. Alongside appearances at ProgPower USA and the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, the band expanded its touring with acts including Stratovarius, Amaranthe and Evergrey. SEVEN KINGDOMS later served as sole support on Powerwolf’s first US tour and performed with Wind Rose across North America and Europe.
The quartet released The Square EP through Reigning Phoenix Music in 2024. In 2025, they toured Europe with Unleash The Archers and Striker, then reunited with Blind Guardian for a North American run also featuring Ensiferum.
