ODE OF DISGRACE have released Chronus, a new single and accompanying music video, in cooperation with Inverse Records. The Finnish modern metal band take a heavier direction on the track, using lower instrumental tunings to reinforce a song concerned with time and its inevitability.
The announcement connects the music to the lyrics’ exploration of time and its dimensionality. It describes sorrowful, distant melodies alongside verse and breakdown riffs that build into a forceful pulse. The chorus centers on despair and finality, foreshadowing an existential crisis. The title itself comes from the personification of time in Greek mythology.
Chronus is among guitarist Valtteri Rautanen’s first compositions for ODE OF DISGRACE since joining in 2025. He also shot and edited the accompanying video. Composition and arrangement credits are shared by Rautanen, Roope Meriläinen, Ville Lehtonen, Lauri Halme and Pessi Laine, with Meriläinen writing the lyrics.
Juhis Kauppinen mixed the single, while Miro Kiiski of Miro mastering handled mastering. Minttu Mäkinen created the single cover, and the promotional band photograph supplied with the announcement is credited to Jonna Sjögren.
Formed in 2011, ODE OF DISGRACE have continued writing material alongside live performances during 2026. Their preceding release was the 2025 EP Under Grey Skies, following the ORBIS EP in 2022 and several standalone singles. The announcement places the new track within the band’s continuing development of a modern sound rooted in metalcore and heavy riffing.
The lineup comprises Roope Meriläinen on vocals, Pessi Laine on guitar and vocals, Valtteri Rautanen on guitar, Ville Lehtonen on bass and Lauri Halme on drums.
