LAST CHANCE have announced Dickpunch for January 22, 2027, with a cover of THE ROLLING STONES’ 1973 song ‘Heartbreaker’ serving as its first single. An accompanying lyric video is available now, while preorders have opened for the follow-up to the band’s 2023 self-titled debut.
The cover connects guitarist and producer Dave Baron’s longstanding interest in the song with singer Frankie Rage’s own enthusiasm for THE ROLLING STONES. In the announcement distributed by Freeman Promotions, Baron explains that he had wanted to record it for years before LAST CHANCE, and that the shared influence made the choice a natural fit.
‘The song suited both LAST CHANCE’s dark, lyrical themes and Frankie's NYC street voice perfectly,’ Baron says. ‘We stayed true to what makes the original great but my guitars and Brian’s drums made the song much more muscular than the original. And hearing Frankie sing “The police in New York City” in an actual New York accent just felt right.’
That approach reflects the combination of classic New York punk influences and hard rock musicianship described in the announcement. LAST CHANCE pair groove-focused bass and forceful drumming with melodic hooks and lyrics addressing abuse, disillusionment, lost time and regret. The press material also identifies political themes within the band’s writing.
Rage handles lead and backing vocals, with Baron contributing guitars and vocals. Bassist Rob Phillips is also identified as a producer, while Brian Tichy and Jordan Cannata are both listed on drums. The announcement notes Tichy’s work with WHITESNAKE, Ozzy Osbourne and FOREIGNER, and Cannata’s connection to SLAUGHTER. Baron specifically credits Brian’s drumming when discussing the heavier treatment of the first single.
Dickpunch contains ten tracks, opening with ‘Abuse’ and closing with ‘Just Let Go.’ The cover occupies the third position in the announced running order.
