ASIA will release its new studio album Indigo on November 6, 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl. The English band has also unveiled the first single, “The Traveller (Into The Light),” along with an official video.
The upcoming record features the current lineup of Geoff Downes, Virgil Donati, John Mitchell, and Harry Whitley. According to the announcement, Indigo was recorded throughout 2025 and produced by Downes with the band, while Mitchell handled mixing and mastering.
Downes said the lead single was built around ASIA’s established balance of melody and progressive elements, calling it “a song of great optimism.”
The album also carries a connection to the band’s past. The source material states that some of the songs originated during writing sessions that began after 2014’s Gravitas, when Downes and late ASIA singer-bassist John Wetton were developing ideas for another studio record. Those plans were halted by Wetton’s illness and death, and Downes later returned to the material as the band was reactivated.
That history is reflected in two songs specifically identified as among Wetton’s final compositions for the band: “Tattoo Indigo (Parts 2 & 3)” and “Chesapeake Bay.” The album also includes guest appearances from two high-profile names connected to progressive rock and hard rock: Steve Howe contributes acoustic guitar to “Chesapeake Bay,” while Mike Portnoy appears on the bonus version of “Tattoo Indigo (Part 3).”
The release follows renewed live activity for ASIA across the US, Japan, and Europe in 2024 and 2025, according to the announcement. The new album is presented as the next phase for the group after that return to the road and studio.
