An animated adventure accompanies KILMARA’s return to European stages: the Barcelona melodic power metal band have released the official visualizer for ‘Alliance of the Free’ while joining INDUCTION and TUNGSTEN on the Anthems of Steel Tour 2026. Taken from Journey to the Sun, the track receives a visual treatment that concludes the album’s conceptual story.
The ‘Alliance of the Free’ visualizer takes the band’s retro-futuristic universe into full animation, depicting heroes, distant worlds and adventure. For KILMARA, the format offered a way to realize ideas beyond the practical limits of live-action filming.
‘We wanted to bring the story of “Alliance of the Free” to life in a way that could go beyond the limits of a live-action video,’ KILMARA explain. ‘Animation has allowed us to create worlds, characters and emotions that would have been impossible to achieve otherwise, giving a visual dimension to the story we had imagined from the very beginning.’
The band identify Masters of the Universe, G-Force (Comando G), Ulysses 31 and Mazinger Z among the series that informed the project. Those childhood influences connect the clip’s animated storytelling with the nostalgia already embedded in the album’s concept.
‘Those magical adventures shaped our imaginations as kids, and that same passion for epic animated storytelling has been running through our minds throughout this entire creation,’ KILMARA say.
Released on January 31, 2025 via ROAR, Journey to the Sun builds its conceptual world around late-1980s arcade halls, drawing on first loves, lasting friendships, rivalries, defeats and hard-earned victories. Its melodic and power metal foundations incorporate orchestrations, retro synthesizers and progressive elements, with a heavier, more contemporary approach that retains the band’s emphasis on melody.
Guitarist and keyboardist Carles Salse produced the album at Sureau Studio. Miguel Ángel Marchal handled mixing, while Seeb Levermann mastered it.
