Secret Rule have released “Someone Killed the Pope”, the title track from their eleventh studio album, due February 5, 2027 through Rockshots Records. The September 29, 2026 announcement includes an official video for the single, which follows “Edge of Control” and continues the Italian band’s move toward heavier material.
The announcement describes a stronger metalcore influence alongside guitars, electronics and cinematic orchestral arrangements. Angela Di Vincenzo handles the melodic lead vocals, while guitarist Andy Menario wrote and produced the track. A breakdown is part of the song’s heavier approach.
Di Vincenzo explains the title as a metaphor for established authority rather than a literal act. Her account focuses on the collapse of supposedly permanent structures and the questions that follow. A second strand of the lyrics concerns attempts to suppress truth: silencing one person does not prevent others from carrying the same ideas forward.

Secret Rule will support Xandria and Seven Spires across Europe from October 5 to October 23. The itinerary opens in Cluj-Napoca and closes in Hamburg, with dates in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
Founded in Rome in 2014 by Di Vincenzo and Menario, Secret Rule combine modern metal with electronic and cinematic elements. The current lineup also includes Luca Pecchia on bass and Diego Divizia on drums. The official album preorder is available through the band’s store.
