EMBRYECTOMY – Vitriolic Baptism Marks Unique Leader Records Debut

EMBRYECTOMY's third album, Vitriolic Baptism, is out via Unique Leader Records, with nine tracks and a new visualizer for its title track.

Six years in the making, Vitriolic Baptism brings EMBRYECTOMY to Unique Leader Records for their third full-length. The Greek brutal slamming death metal trio released the nine-track album on October 23, alongside a new single and visualizer for its title track. The record is available to purchase and stream in full.

The album follows Flamethrower Ecdysis (2020) and includes the previously released singles ‘Ecumenical Lobotomy’ and ‘Chainsaw Symphysiotomy.’ Tom ‘the SLAM OG’ from Epicardiectomy appears on ‘Newborn Martyrdom,’ the fifth song in the running order.

Discussing their first album for Unique Leader, EMBRYECTOMY said: ‘Unique Leader has provided us with a top-tier platform, that combines quality with musical malady, upon which we managed to spawn what can possibly be our heaviest release to date. We have christened (pun intended) this release “Vitriolic Baptism”. Once again, Embry Kyle has risen from his ancient slumber to terrorize everyone in his path.’

The announcement, supplied by Breaking The Law PR, describes the album's approach as beatdown guttural slam. Early reviews quoted in the release emphasize its rhythms and vocal delivery: The Razors Edge points to ‘mid-tempo rhythms, breakdowns and plenty of palm-muted riffing,’ while Dead Rhetoric describes ‘punishing slams and massive chugs.’ Those assessments accompany the new title-track visualizer, following the videos issued for the two earlier singles.

The complete running order is ‘Progeny Shredder,’ ‘Ecumenical Lobotomy,’ ‘Vitriolic Baptism,’ ‘Chainsaw Symphysiotomy,’ ‘Newborn Martyrdom’ featuring Tom ‘the SLAM OG’ from Epicardiectomy, ‘Cranioclastic Infanticide,’ ‘Psychoneurotic Hecatomb,’ ‘Sanctimonious Episcopicide’ and ‘Carbonized Genesis.’ Daemorph Art created the album artwork.

Formed in Athens, Greece, in 2013, EMBRYECTOMY released their debut full-length, Gluttonous Mastication of Embryonic Remnants, in 2016 before following it with Flamethrower Ecdysis. Their catalogue also includes demos, singles and splits alongside Traumatomy, Cerebral Paralysis, Psychosomatic Self-Mutilation and Nephrectomy.

EMBRYECTOMY's lineup consists of Kyriakos Destounis on vocals, Jake Gamble on drums and Marinos Tountas on guitars. The promotional band photograph supplied with the announcement is credited to Dave Curtis.
