BLOOD OF THE EARTH – The Constellation Previews Five-Song EP Beneath A Sky That Breaks

BLOOD OF THE EARTH have released The Constellation ahead of their independently released EP Beneath A Sky That Breaks, due October 23.

With Beneath A Sky That Breaks due independently on October 23, BLOOD OF THE EARTH have released another piece of the five-song EP: “The Constellation.” The single, accompanied by a visualizer, follows the trio's original track “Petrichor” and their cover of MINISTRY's “Filth Pig.”

Recorded with producer Ryan Boesch, whose credits include MELVINS and WHORES, the EP draws together the band's doom, sludge, post-metal and industrial influences. Secret Service Publicity's announcement describes a collection built around contrasts between distortion and melody, heavy rhythms and eerie electronics.

“The Constellation” carries an earlier part of the band's history into that setting. Originally an instrumental composition on their debut EP, the song has been revised to incorporate lyrics and vocals, with Katie Golden and J. Costa both contributing voices.

Katie Golden explains: “'The Constellation' has transformed significantly since its original instrumental version on our first EP. Bringing lyrics and vocals into the song gave it a much deeper meaning and intensity, while the revisions allowed us to really explore what the song could become. It feels like we finally brought it to life in the way we always imagined.”

Jeff Golden points to the combination of the two vocalists as a defining part of the new version: “'The Constellation' comes to life with atmosphere, haunting sounds, and heaviness from the vocals of both J Costa and Katie. They each bring something completely different to the song, and when those voices come together with the heaviness of the music, it gives the track a much stronger identity.”

BLOOD OF THE EARTH were founded by married musicians Jeff Golden, formerly of CROWBAR, and Katie Golden, formerly of THE CONVALESCENCE, alongside THY WILL BE DONE vocalist J. Costa. Their combination of instrumental material and vocal-led songs provides the background to this reworking; the announcement describes the revised track as moving between restrained passages and heavier sections.

The running order for Beneath A Sky That Breaks is “Beneath A Sky That Breaks,” “The Constellation,” “Barren Oasis,” “Petrichor” and “Filth Pig,” with the MINISTRY cover closing the EP. Preorders are available through the band's Bandcamp page.
